May the fourth be with you

We happened to have the luck of being in New York on May 4th. For those who aren’t “in the know”, May 4th is Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you, get it ).

Anyways, there just happened to be an awesome costume exhibit at Discovery, Times Square, at the same time, which we of course had to visit. The show featured costumes from the entire array of movies. Pip just happened to have his Star Wars – Poe Dameron, Rebel Fighter Pilot, costume with him (because, you know, these are the important things you drag around with you to the other side of the planet) so he was dressed for the occasion.

May the 4th be with you

Amongst the 70 or so costumes were also collections of weapons, lightsabers, blasters etc from across the decades with a little information about each one, including what they were made from (cast-off camera parts, who’d have thought).

Among the costumes on display were a Wookie, Princess Leia’s bikini and a Yoda!

We had a fantastic time at this exhibit. There was so much to see, and it was amazing to see the level of detail that went into these clothes. And I have to say, my goodness did Padma have a lot of costume changes! The staff were amazing and Pip had a really amazing experience with a staff member dressed as Rey, complete with a robotic BB-8.
